CSQ Volume II
Vibraphone Jazz from the CECILIA SMITH QUARTET
Available on:
It's not easy being a young vibraphone player on today's jazz scene --
especially when
you are dividing your time between New York and Boston. Yet Cecilia
Smith keeps
apartments in both cities, keeps traveling (hence the title of the first
track on this
album), and, most important, keeps working. Her quartet is a going
concern, seasoned
by numerous gigs in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states, reflecting
the knowledge
of experience and the fire of youth. "When you get quality gigs, people
want to play
with you," Smith explains, and that quality shines through on her second
album.
